“Falling Back” Means More Car Crashes
We all love changing our clocks back because we get one more hour of sleep. While that is great, winter driving means we are all driving daylight fewer hours of the day, even with the time change. A study published by members of the University of Michigan Transportation Research Institute found that there is a noticeable increase in crashes around the time change. The article reviews rear-end car crashes and looks at the times of the crashes. Researchers found that the lack of daylight – especially when there is a sudden change around daylight savings time – contributed to a real increase in crashes. So, enjoy the sleep but let’s be careful out there!
